The homeland of kava kava, also known colloquially as intoxicating pepper, are the South Seas cultures of Polynesia (Tonga, Western Samoa) and Melanesia (Vanuatu, Fiji Islands). The kava bush grows two to three meters tall and has large heart-shaped leaves and a fleshy rootstock that can weigh up to 10 kg.

Only the fleshy rootstock is used for medicinal purposes. The ingredients are called kavapyrones. These include kavain, methysticin, desmethoxyangonin, yagonin, dihydrokavain, and dihydromethysticin.

Synthetically manufactured kava-kava products usually contain the most important ingredient, kavain.

In the South Seas cultures of Polynesia (Tonga, Western Samoa) and Melanesia (Vanuatu, Fiji Islands), the plant still plays an important role today, including in religious rituals. It is said to induce well-being, peacefulness and relaxation without impairing consciousness and the ability to think.

Recommended intake: 1-2 x daily 1 capsule with liquid before meals or more as required and only after consultation with a doctor or HP.

Note: Do not take during pregnancy, lactation, endogenous depression. The effect can be increased with alcohol, barbiturates and psychotropic drugs.
