Superoxide dismutase (SOD) is an antioxidant enzyme found in many biological systems. The antioxidant effect is similar to that of glutathione and vitamin C.
SOD enzyme belongs to the group of metalloproteinases. It is an important component in cell metabolism and important for the neutralization of superoxide occurring in the course of natural cell metabolism.
