Artemisinin Extract is obtained from annual mugwort by extracting dried leaves and flowers with a solvent. The secret of artemisinin's action lies in its reaction with iron, which is found in high concentrations in malaria pathogens. When artemisinin comes into contact with iron, a chemical reaction occurs that generates free radicals, which are the real weapon against the malaria parasites. They attack the cell membranes, literally tearing them apart and thus destroying the pathogen.
